Another year, another Agm and this one didnt pass without a few controversial issues.

Transfers:- The rule is still 2 weeks between letting Simon/Mel know and playing for your new team, we would like to be able to announce transfers on the web once Mel/Simon have been informed but this may not be an efficient way of doing it

Borrowing players: the current rule is that if you are short of players for the start of the game you can borrow a player with the permission of the following team, in the past, when your own players turn up the borrowed player has to finish, from now on they can continue playing, the new rules are:-

MAXIMUM of 2 Players

Borrow from the same division or lower, lose 1 goal per player

Borrow from ahigher division and its 2 goals per player

Once again, the other team captain has to agree

Cuptied: If a player is cuptied for a team that has folded, he is no longer cup tied

The Cup and Plate, in the group stages, the top 2 goes in the cup, the bottom 2 goes in the plate, as a consequence there will no longer be a 2 legged semi in the plate

There will be an independant commitee created as and when we need to change a rule mid season, anyone can volunteer for this comitee when its needed

Referees will continue to manage the issue of mixed colour shirts within the team, all teams should match but the referee makes that decision.

We are ging to investigate the possibility of turning the league into 3 divisions, this will be discussed on the forum with ammeeting arranged on week 11 to decide.

And so here we are, since November 22nd last year we have been playing the winter league and who would have thought all those weeks ago that this would be the first trophy less season for AFC since this website started.

Maybe St Johns? they had the self belief and the ability to hold theyre nerve to take the title in the final week and it is a most deserved title for the Super J's who have been one of the most consisitent teams in turf history, AFC have to settle for 2nd but special attention also has to be paid to Royal Oak, who after a meteoric rise from Div 3 in 5 season have finihsed 3rd in the premier league.

Exiles secured the Div 1 title a few weeks ago but it was CBC who secured 2nd place and bounced straight back to the premier league at the first attempt, they will also have the chance to secure the cup when they play 3rd placed Div 1 team Hangover in the cup final on July 18th.

Dreamteam and Jackpot secured promotion weeks ago but it was the bottom of Div 2 that had the battles and due to a scoreing error in week 20 Aardvark thought they had done enough but in the most cruel of fashions have been relegated to Div 3 on goal difference.

The Div 3 title race came down to the wire and after Eagles drew with Mayo earlier on in the day, top of the league Strollers knew they needed a draw against Kebab but it didnt come easy and a late equaliser eventulally got them the point they deserved and took the title even though they technically failed to win in the last 5 games.

Well done everyone, no games this weekend due to the world cup final but on thr 18th is the plate final between Santos and Sharks and the cup final between CBC and Hangover, anyone wanting friendlies at 3:30 or 4:40 contact Mel.

Dont forget the AGM on the 25th and enjoy the clean sheets/ failure score section on the league tables, this is a sign of what the website will have next season.

The Final week

So here we are, with more inevitability than England not winning the world cup and more expected than Maradona losing the plot, its our final week and this week possibly more than any other season there are so many issues yet to be decided.

For once the premier champions will be going to the final week of the season and its all in the hands of St Johns, the super j's have been at the top for large spells of this season and this week when they meet Rochester at 6pm on Sunday they know that either a win or a better result than AFC get against Royal Oak at the same time and they will be champions for the first time and will end the dominance shown by AFC for the past few years.

Exiles are already up in Div 1 and due to a massive goal difference they are probably champions, who will join them is a chase of 3 teams, CBC sit in the drivers seat knowing that a win against already relegated Allstars will see them immedeately return to the premier league whereas a draw will lead the winner of Mag 7 vs Hangover to take the 2nd place on goal difference.

The div 2 promotion race is already sorted with Dreamteam and Jacpot already up but the relagation battle has yet to be sorted, Valley Vikings are already down but Cricketers who currently posses the 2nd relegation spot will be hoping to beat Trojans and for Aardvark to lose along with an 8 goal shift towards the cricketers, not asking too much.

Then Div 3....after both of the promoted teams had a 3-0 walkover last week we are no closer to knowing who will take the title but on Sunday it'll be Eagles taking to the field first when they play Mayo at 3pm, a draw and then Strollers losing to Kebab at 8pm and Eagles are champs, a win for Eagles and Strollers will have to repricocate and beat Kebab to take the title.

Whatever happens, good luck to everyone and enjoy your weekend.

Only 2 weeks left!

So here we are, only 2 league games left and we are down to the business end of the season.

Where the premier league will be heading took a turn last week as leaders St Johns were ony able to draw with already relegated Arrows, Now on level points with AFC they have an advantage of +10 goal difference but this week they play 3rd placed Royal Oak on Monday already knowing how AFC would have got on against 4th placed Atlanteans, whilst Arrows are already down, Hermans have found form at the right time of the season, they are still 5pts from safety but this week they Lech who are 5 pts away from them, anything other than a win and Hermans are a Div 1 team next season.

Div 1 has often been a close run divison and this season is no exception, current leaders Exiles will secure promotion if they beat Saints on Monday but the chasing pack will also get smaller if results go as planned, 2nd placed Hangover play 3rd placed CBC in a 6pointer but Mag 7 are in form and not only can they capitolise on the other game but they will relegate Allstars along with Robins if they win on Sunday.

Dreamteam and Jackpot have already secured promotion from Div 2 with Dreamteam taking the title but the real battle is at the bottom, Vikings, Aardvark and Cricketers are all battling for the 2 places and this week they all face top teams to see if the battle goes another week, anything other than a win for Vikings and they are down.

The Strollers have lead Div 3 from week 2 and some say they celebrated the title too early but after last weeks defeat to 2nd placed Eagles the title race is back on, Strollers lead by 1pt but havent won in the last 3 games and will not be looking forward to playing Patent Office who havent lost in 3 games, Eagles play Real Athletico which wont be easy but they are the inform team so who knows.

Welcome break?

Whilst for some teams we have a welcome break 2 weeks for others its a busy cup weekend followed by an unwelcome break at a time they wish to concentrate on football, there are though, some teams that will be enjoying the break having already completed this seasons work.

Namely Division 2's Dreamteam and Division 3's Strollers, both teams have already secured promotion and are no doubt planning for next season already, to get promotion with 4 games left is an indication how dominant they have been with special notice given to the Strollers, having lost the first game of the season they have now gone unbeaten since week 1 and are still in a strong position to take the div 3 title.

Unfortunately there has already been one team knowing they will be playing football in a lower division, The Arrows showed a meteoric rise through the divisions over the ast few years but this year the luck has runout and they will be playing in Div 1next season, also likely to join them will be Hermans who need a minor miracle to retain premier status.

More teams will know theyre fate in the week after bank holiday.

The Final Third!!!

So we can almost smell the end of the season, 14 games gone and 7 to go, with a slight switch in order we have almost completed 2 full rounds of games and the league tables are looking great for some and bleak for others.

In the premier league St Johns recorded a massive victory on Sunday over perenial champions AFC to now hold a 5pt gap at the top, the super J's wont be cracking open the champagne yet, with 21pts still to play for they will be aware of the collapse of 2 seasons ago when they led at this point, one team hoping for a turn around in form is Arrows, now 6pts adrift of survival every game is vital if they are to maintain a premier league place, Hermans have picked up 4 pts out the last 9 and hope that recent additions to the team will help them pick up the 4pts they are currently adrift, we'll know more in the coming weeks.

Division 1 has changed from a four horse race of week 7 to maybe just the 3 now, Hangover currently lead by one point but they will be aware that 2nd placed Exiles have a game in hand and its against the unusually out of form Saints, CBC are only 3 pts behind in theyre hope of bouncing straight back to the prem but some recent poor form has seen Mag 7 drop 5pts back, Allstars and Robins sit 6 points adrift at the bottom and neither team seem to be able to string anything together, both teams have suffered dramatically this year and unless a major change in fortunes occurs they will be playing Div 2 football next season.

Dreamteam are possibly the closest team in all 4 divisions to securing something positive next season, a massive 14pts clear of third place and 7pts clear of 2nd, only a catastrophy will stop them playing in Div 1 next term, we are unsure whilst going to press whether Rions Boys are staying in Div 2 but if they are then its only a matter of time before relegation to Div 3 is confirmed, 9pts behind 6th & 7th only a few more points for either Cricketers and Aardvark will confirm theyre relegation, who will join them will probably come down to the games between Aardvark and the Cricketers.

Unbeaten since week 1 the Strollers are another team looking forward to next season, 7pts clear of 2nd and 11pts clear of 3rd only some really bad results or some over confidence could cost them now :) who joins them could go to the wire, Eagles it pretty but inform Mayo are close and if Kebab win the game in hand then they are 4pts behind with Eagles still to play.

Bloody good this football lark eh!

Referee Abuse

Recently there have been incidents of abuse both on the turf and online aimed at referees, myself and Mel have spoken about the issue and following on from a recent life time ban issues to a player for an after the match abusing of a referee we have decided to extend the policy to the web forum.

This is obviously a similar situation to that of 'Real' football where players and managers have to be careful of what they say in post match interviews as they would expect to recieve some ban or fine from the FA.

We dont want to take the fun out of the forum but in most cases referees are not on the site to reply and in the past even if they have been, it has escalated the issues, by all means, in your match reviews if you feel hard done by then mention it but DO NOT name the referee, any abuse towards a referee will be reported to Mel on his request and will be treated as a 2 strike situation, first offence will bring a warning, 2nd will bring a ban, the length of which will be decided by both myself and Mel.

Please do not ruin the forum for everyone, I have never felt the need to issue rules and dont want to start now.

Another tension packed draw was made tonight in the rain at the dugout, in the cup holders AFC were drawn against Div 1 pace setters Real rochester where as current plate holders Arrows will play Hangover in the cup, the full draw is as follows:-

Cup

Jacpot Vs Dreamteam

AFC Vs Rochester

Royal Oak Vs Mag 7

Exiles Vs Trojans

CBC Vs Hermans

Robins Vs St Johns

Hangover Vs Arrows

Atlanteans Vs Lech

Plate

Barbarians Vs Saints

Sharks Vs Real Athletico

Santos Vs Allstars

Aardvark Vs Cricketers
